Frequently Asked Questions

What equipment does a home workshop need?
A trolley jack and a pair of axle stands for anything under a vehicle, a bench vice, a creeper, decent lighting and somewhere to put the tools. Add an air compressor if you want to run air tools. Each of those has its own page here, start with lifting and hydraulics.
What is the safest way to work under a car?
Lift it on a trolley jack on flat concrete, then lower it onto axle stands rated above the vehicle weight and give it a shove before you crawl under. Never rely on the jack alone. A 2 tonne jack and a pair of 3 tonne stands cover most cars and utes.
Do you sell workshop heaters and fans?
Yes, industrial diesel heaters from 16kW to 51kW and high velocity fans from 50cm to 106cm, in the industrial heaters and fans collection. Both are built for sheds, factories and site huts rather than houses.
What welding gear do you stock?
MIG, stick and multi-process welders, auto darkening helmets, MIG wire, electrodes and torch consumables. The welding equipment page covers the lot, with packages that include helmet, gloves and wire.
Is freight included on heavy workshop equipment?
Orders over $200 ship free anywhere in New Zealand, which covers jacks, compressors, heaters and tool chests. Heavy items go by freight rather than courier, so allow a few extra days and a forklift or a couple of mates to unload a pallet.
