Jack Stands & Axle Stands NZ

Jack stands and axle stands rated from 1.5 to 8 tonne, priced $64 to $511, sold in pairs and in jack-and-stand combos. A trolley jack lifts the vehicle. Stands keep it there safely while you work underneath. Buy stands rated above the weight of what you are lifting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are 2 tonne jack stands enough for a car?
Yes for a car or small SUV. Check whether the rating is per stand or per pair, because brands differ. The stands here are rated from 1.5 to 8 tonne and sold in pairs. Go to 3 tonne for utes and 4WDs and 6 to 8 tonne for light trucks.
How much weight can an axle stand hold?
Its stamped rating, on firm level ground, with the load centred on the saddle. Choose stands rated above the weight sitting on them, and remember that one end of a vehicle is roughly half its total weight.
Is it safe to put a car on four jack stands?
Yes if you do it in order. Flat concrete, wheels chocked, lift one end at a time with a trolley jack at the manufacturer's lift point, set the stands at equal height, lower onto them slowly, then push the car to make sure it is solid before going under.
Pin lock or ratchet jack stands?
Ratchet stands adjust fastest by hand. Pin stands give a positive mechanical lock at set heights. Both are fine when rated correctly and used on firm ground. Some ratchet stands here add a safety pin as well.
Are there taller jack stands for lifted 4WDs and trucks?
Yes. The 6 and 8 tonne stands sit taller and reach the chassis of lifted 4WDs and light trucks. The height range is listed on each product page. For anything bigger, a 20 tonne plus bottle jack on timber packing is the usual approach.
