Tool storage FAQ

What size tool chest do I need?

Match the drawers to how much you own. A 3-drawer chest ($362) suits a home garage or a starter kit. Most home mechanics land on a 6 to 9-drawer chest ($520 to $627). For a full-time trade setup, run a 9-drawer chest on an 11-drawer roller cabinet, or buy them together as a combo.

What is the best tool chest under $500?

The 3-drawer chest ($362) is the pick under $500, or the 20-inch portable toolbox ($231) if you want something you can carry to the job. The 6-drawer chest sits just over the line at $520.

Is there a good tool chest under $1,000?

Yes. The 9-drawer chests ($560 and $627), the 5-drawer roller cabinet ($703), and an 8-drawer professional chest-and-cabinet set ($988) all come in under $1,000. For the most storage per dollar, the 9-drawer chest is hard to beat.

Do you have black tool chests?

Yes, in Racing Black and Racing Red. Black runs from the 9-drawer chest ($627) up to the 41-inch combo unit ($1,540) and the 294-piece black-edition kit ($4,000). A black tool trolley (the roller cabinet) matches any of the black chests.

Should I buy the chest and roller cabinet separately or as a combo?

Either works. Combo units ($1,540 to $2,525) pair a top chest with a matching roller cabinet in one buy, usually cheaper than the two apart. Buy separately if you want the roller cabinet now and the top chest later.

Can I get replacement parts and drawer liners?

Yes. We stock spare wheels, drawer slides, lock barrels and handles, so a well-used cabinet gets repaired, not binned. Drawer liner trays hold sockets, spanners, pliers and screwdrivers in place, each cut to a specific drawer.
