FAQs

What can I run on the AC2420?
Tyres, blow guns, nailers, an air ratchet and short runs with an impact wrench. It is a compact home workshop compressor with a cast iron cylinder and an onboard regulator, so you can set the pressure a nailer wants and leave it.
How much air does the AC2420 deliver?
200 litres a minute displacement, which is 120 litres a minute, or 4.2 CFM, of free air at 90 PSI. That covers nailers, ratchets and blow guns comfortably and an impact wrench in bursts. It is not enough for a spray gun or a sander running continuously.
How long does the tank take to fill?
A couple of minutes from empty. It delivers 200 litres a minute displacement, so top ups between tools are quick.
Can it run continuously?
Not for long. Direct drive pumps run at motor speed, 2,800 rpm, so this unit has a 30% duty cycle: about 10 minutes of pumping in any 30. For continuous tools look at the belt drive AC10030.
Does it need oil changes?
Yes. It is an oil-lubricated pump, which is why it runs quieter and cooler than an oil-less unit. Check the sight glass before each use and change the oil after the first 20 hours, then every 100 hours or once a season. Drain the tank after use.
What plug does it need?
A standard 10 amp household plug. The 2 HP motor has thermal overload protection.
How heavy is it and is it portable?
24kg on wide, stable feet with a top handle. One person carries it short distances.
What fittings does it come with?
ARO style quick connect couplers, which are the common standard in New Zealand. Twin outlets mean two tools can be connected at once. Any air hose with an ARO plug clicks straight on. If your existing tools are Nitto, an adaptor sorts it.
