Your questions answered

FAQs

What will the PBI7000X run?
A house in a power cut: fridge, freezer, lights, Wi-Fi, TV, jug and microwave together, and most single phase water pumps. On site it runs power tools, a compressor and a small welder. Rated at 5,000W continuous and 5,500W peak. It will not run a large heat pump and an oven at the same time, for that look at the PBI9500X or PBI12000X.
How long does the PBI7000X run on a tank?
Up to 6 hours on its 20 litre tank. That figure is at a moderate load with Eco mode on, which drops the engine speed when you are only drawing a few hundred watts. Flat out on a heavy load, expect less. Let it cool before refuelling and check the oil every tank, the low oil sensor will shut it down before damage is done.
How loud is the PBI7000X?
78 dB measured at 7 metres. That is a working site level, so place it away from where people are standing and point the exhaust away from the house. Eco mode brings the noise down further at light loads.
What outlets does it have and what plug do I need?
Two 15 amp IP66 outlets protected by the onboard RCD, plus one 32 amp IP66 outlet with its own circuit breaker for a house changeover switch or a site distribution board. A 32 amp to 15 amp adaptor cable is included, and there are two USB ports.
Is the PBI7000X safe for laptops, TVs and battery chargers?
Yes. It is a pure sine wave inverter generator, so voltage and frequency stay steady and total harmonic distortion stays low. Phones, laptops, modern fridges, caravan controllers and cordless tool chargers run the way they do on mains power. A conventional generator cannot promise that.
How heavy is it and can one person move it?
53kg. It is an open frame unit with push button electric start and a recoil backup. Two people lift it onto a ute, or wheel it on a trolley. For a generator that lives in one spot, that weight is not a problem.
Does it come with a warranty and spare parts in New Zealand?
Yes. Powerbuilt generators are backed by the New Zealand importer with a 12 month warranty, service agents around the country and spare parts held for every model. Keep the receipt, it is your proof of purchase for any claim.
How is the PBI7000X delivered?
It ships by freight on a pallet to any address in New Zealand. Orders over $200 are free to most urban addresses, and heavy, rural or island deliveries may carry a freight charge that shows at checkout. Delivery is kerbside, so have a second person or a trolley ready. South Island addresses usually see it in two working days from dispatch, North Island two to three.
