Your questions answered

FAQs

What will the PBI4400X run?
Home backup for the fridge, freezer, lights, Wi-Fi, TV and a jug, or a site running a drop saw, a compressor or a 2,000W tool. Rated at 3,200W continuous and 3,500W peak. It will start most single phase water pumps. For a heat pump or a welder, step up to the PBI7000X. Two PBI4400X can be paralleled for up to 6,000W.
Can I parallel two PBI4400X?
Yes. Two units with the parallel kit give up to 6,000W, which covers a whole house through a changeover switch or a busy site with several tools.
How long does the PBI4400X run on a tank?
Up to 4 hours on its 7 litre tank. That figure is at a moderate load with Eco mode on, which drops the engine speed when you are only drawing a few hundred watts. Flat out on a heavy load, expect less. Let it cool before refuelling and check the oil every tank, the low oil sensor will shut it down before damage is done.
How loud is the PBI4400X?
74 dB measured at 7 metres. That is a working site level, so place it away from where people are standing and point the exhaust away from the house. Eco mode brings the noise down further at light loads.
What outlets does it have and what plug do I need?
Two 15 amp IP44 outlets and two USB ports. Both outlets take a standard New Zealand plug. Run two tools or appliances at once as long as the total stays under 3,200W continuous.
Is the PBI4400X safe for laptops, TVs and battery chargers?
Yes. It is a pure sine wave inverter generator, so voltage and frequency stay steady and total harmonic distortion stays low. Phones, laptops, modern fridges, caravan controllers and cordless tool chargers run the way they do on mains power. A conventional generator cannot promise that.
How heavy is it and can one person move it?
30kg net, 35kg boxed, in an open steel frame with handles at each end. One fit person lifts it, two make it easy. There is no wheel kit on this model.
Does it come with a warranty and spare parts in New Zealand?
Yes. Powerbuilt generators are backed by the New Zealand importer with a 12 month warranty, service agents around the country and spare parts held for every model. Keep the receipt, it is your proof of purchase for any claim.
