Your questions answered

FAQs

What are the drawer sizes on the RMS6171 9 drawer chest in black?
Six small drawers at 165 x 255 x 40mm, two full width at 570 x 255 x 40mm and one deep full width at 570 x 255 x 55mm. That layout is why it is the most popular chest in the range: small drawers for bits, hex keys and precision tools, wide drawers for spanners and sockets.
How much weight will the drawers take?
34.9kg per drawer on full extension ball bearing slides, so a drawer full of sockets opens all the way and closes square. Put the heaviest tools low and the ones you use most at waist height.
Does it lock?
Yes. An internal central locking system with keys locks every drawer with one turn. Drawer liners are fitted, so tools do not slide or rattle.
What are the dimensions and weight?
660mm wide, 305mm deep, 430mm high, 29kg. Steel is 1.0mm drawers and 1.2mm body, which is heavier gauge than most hardware store boxes.
Is this the chest in the tool kit combos?
Yes. The black edition 189, 219, 248 and 294 piece Powerbuilt kits are built around this chest with foam trays cut for each tool. If you want the chest and the tools, the kit works out cheaper than buying them apart.
Will it stack on a roller cabinet?
Yes. The Racing Series chests and cabinets are made to pair. This chest sits on the 7 drawer roller cabinets (RMS6156 red and RMS6172 black). Buying them together as the RS7172 combo is cheaper than separately.
How is it delivered?
It ships by freight on a pallet to any address in New Zealand. Orders over $200 are free to most urban addresses, and heavy, rural or island deliveries may carry a freight charge that shows at checkout. Delivery is kerbside, so have a second person or a trolley ready. South Island addresses usually see it in two working days from dispatch, North Island two to three.
What if I change my mind?
You have 30 days from delivery to request a change-of-mind return, as long as it is unused and in the original packaging. On heavy freight items the return freight is at your cost, and the original freight is deducted from the refund. If it arrives damaged or develops a fault, that is covered under the Consumer Guarantees Act and we sort the freight. Full details are on our refund policy.
